A racial ability overhaul for oblivion remastered. Get it free here: https://ko-fi.com/s/aea78f3211 Requires my library mod here: https://digineaux.com/digineaux-library-for-oblivion

Stats

All races now start with 30 in all attributes and no skill bonuses. This effectively raises the level cap, makes level ups, classes and brithsigns more impactful, while making the early game actually somewhat difficult on higher difficulty settings. Keep in mind most NPCs are also affected by these changes.

Altmer – High Elf

  • Spell Craft: Access the spellcrafting menu at any time
  • Imbue Arms: access the enchanting menu at any time
  • Cantrips: You start with a number of weak and utility spells that cost nothing to cast
    • Glow: You glow in a 20 ft radius for 4 seconds
    • Bane Allergy: On touch, the target is aflicted with 10% weakness to poison, magic and mundane damage for 10 seconds.
    • Mana Well: restore 10 magicka
    • Tongue Thief: Silence a target for 10 seconds on touch
    • Minds Grip: 30 feet of telekenesis for 10 seconds
    • Hydroplane: waterwalking for 4 seconds
    • Knock: unlock very easy locks
    • Wall Pulse – Detect life within 25 feet and night eye for 9 seconds
    • Command – Command a weak creature or humanoid for 5 seconds

Bosmer – Wood Elf

  • Vanilla command power
  • Call of the Green – Summons a wild creature. The variety and strength of possible creatures increases as you level, from deer to levled spriggans. Exertion
  • Bestial Tongue – Command powerful creatures within 5 feet for 10 minutes. Exertion

Dunmer – Dark Elf

  • Ancestor Guardian – vanilla. Compatible with any other mods that change this spell or creature.
    • The creature itself has been modified. Load other mods that edit it after/below this one to get their effects.
    • Doubled it’s speed. it’s still quite slow.
    • 4 times more magicka so it can actually cast more than 2 spells
    • Access to fear spells, drain magicka spells, fire spells and its normal frost spell (which doesnt make much sense when dunmers whole thing is being imbued by their volcanic homeland, but whatever).
    • The creature now has 100 intelligence, so it should have access to better AI, allowing to open doors and use it’s spells more intelligently.
  • Summon Ancestor – Summon the Ancestor Guardian for 10 minutes. Exertion
  • Consume Spirit: You passively pull spirits from the afterlife, using their bones as a conduit, only to absorb them for energy if your magicka or stamina fall below 10. A bone is consumned from your inventory every time this triggers. Better bones are consumned first. 60 second cooldown. Can be toggled by casting the spell again. Doesn’t consume quest bones.

Khajiit

  • Pounce: Massively increase your Speed for 3 seconds. Exertion. Ignores silence and absorb effects.
  • Featherfall: Immune to fall damage
  • NightEye: vanilla. Compatible with any other mods that change this spell.

Orc

  • Intimidate: Staredown and gesture at a target, likely causing them and anyone close to them to flee for 4 seconds. Exertion
  • Reflect 20% of incoming mundane damage

Exertion

5 damage to one of the attributes or health (10% each), 10% chance to do nothing. This effect will stack, so be careful about spamming your powerful racials unprepared.

It felt like a fair compromise between being once per day powers that get forgotten and spammable magic that makes all else redundant. This way they can be powerful boons, that can be spammed in emergencies, with long term consequences for doing so. While at the same time becoming less detrimental as your own ability to deal with the side effects increase naturally as you play more.

NPCs

Theoretically NPCs can use all of these abilities. But whether or not their AI actually chooses to is difficult to predict. Passives should work fine, so long as their conditons are met.

Installation

I reccomend starting a new game. But it will work for existing saves with some caveats. Characters that existsed before installing the mod wont recieve the changes or may not work correctly. That includes you the player. You will need to re add your racials, use console commands or another mod.

Requires my library mod here: https://digineaux.com/digineaux-library-for-oblivion, be sure to grab the latest version of it when updating this mod.

You can install this with any mod manager that supports oblivion remastered.
or extract the .esp to “Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data” and add the .esps name to the plugins.txt located in the same directory.

Uninstall

I don’t reccomend this. it could cause crashes and all sort of unpredictable bugs. But you can simply delete the .esp and/or remove it from the plugins.txt.
