Using another mod that edits the same entry, will cause one to overwrite the other (bottom of load order, last to load overwrites those above/before). This can cause unpredictable bugs or partially working features.

Features:

  • Surge DC decreased from 20 to 15
  • Tides of Chaos buff decreases Surge DC to 2. It’s 18 normally.
  • Cantrips also trigger surges, as do free spells like those from feats or equipment. Spellslots from other classes including warlock also work, but that’s a feature of the base game.
  • If you have consumed your tides of magic and don’t currently have the tides of magic buff, your next surge will replenish your tides of magic

Dev Musings

This should make the experience more consistent, make the class much stronger with your replenishable tides of chaos and more fun with more surges. It was frustrating in vanilla that you would only average 1 surge every few fights if you were lucky and the subclass didn’t really give you positive buffs, compared to the other extremely powerful subclasses sorcerer has. Like 50/50 chance to nuke yourself or buff yourself, compared to unarmored defense and elemental resistance isn’t very impressive.

Installation

  1. Install Baldurs Gate 3 Mod Manager
  2. Drag the zip file from this mod onto the mod manager
  3. Drag the mod into the lefthand list (if it isn’t already).
  4. At the top of the window, click the save icon and then export to game button
